Engineering Manager

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a Helsinki-based Core Services full-stack engineering team that builds foundational application capabilities relied on by all of Sievo’s solutions. The team has a critical role in ensuring reliable service for our customers while making high-leverage impact through empowering market-facing engineering teams to iterate fast and innovate on the platform that you provide. The team’s current focus is identity and access management.

As an Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for delivery, technology, and people in Core Services, which is one of our strongest engineering teams. You will guide your team to produce high-impact outcomes and keep improving the team’s execution. Partnering with your Product Manager, you ensure that the team is focused on the highest-leverage foundational work that creates value both now and over the long term. You will support and motivate your developers to pursue a growing level of performance and career growth. While you have the overall responsibility of your team's technology, you drive towards empowering your developers to make the right technical choices.

Key Responsibilities

• People management responsibilities, including inspiring, empowering, and coaching the team members to achieve a high level of technical expertise, productivity, and efficiency.
• Ensuring that the team understands the business domain and defines the solutions and technical architectures that solve the correct problems.
• Ensuring that the team's services run smoothly in production and meet the expected level of maintainability, security, usability, reliability, and other quality requirements.
• Defining, running and continuously improving the agile software development process and day-to-day practices of the team.
• Ensuring crisp execution and clear alignment with stakeholders regarding dependencies, timelines, and progress.

We're looking for someone who:

• Wants to exceed the expectations for the performance and impact of the team but is also keen to maintain our inclusive and supportive, healthy work environment.
• Has experience of engineering management or technical leadership roles and enjoys helping others to succeed.
• Understands the day-to-day work of a software developer through a technical background or other extensive experience working with a development team.
• Has a good understanding and practical experience of agile software development principles and methodologies and can guide the team towards iterative and incremental, data-driven development.
• Excels in communication and collaboration with other engineering teams, product management and business stakeholders in English.
• Has a good understanding of modern cloud technologies and SaaS development, possibly having been worked with Azure or other Microsoft technologies.
• Is experienced with the development of platform technologies where the impact is made through enabling other engineering teams.

Bonus points for:

• Experience with Identity Management, Role-Based Access Control, API platforms, or other foundational platform services.

Our starting salary for an Engineering Manager is between 6700-7200 EUR, and we are open to discussing higher compensation for particularly senior profiles.
